52 Presents to give yourself

A close friend of mine died suddenly on Monday, and I am still reeling from the news. I went through some papers i have on grief, and found this, which I wish to share with you.

52 Presents to give yourself

Walk instead of ride.
Give yourself a compliment
Keep a secret
Practice courage in one small way.
Warm a heart
Laugh at yourself
Enjoy silence
Walk to the nearest park.
Break a bad habit, if just for today.
Get to know the neighbor's dog or cat.
Hug someone.
Sing in the shower
List ten things you do well
Walk in the rain.
Pay a compliment.
Throw away something you don't like.
Watch a construction crew.
Waste a little time.
Curl up with some hot cocoa
Buy a ticket to a special event.
Return something you've borrowed
Think about droplets on rosebubs
Try to feel another person's hurt or joy.
Organize some small corner of your life.
pop popcorn
Turn off the TV and do something else.
Gather shells on the beach.
Feed the ducks
Pick up some travel brochures and dream
Smell one flower.
Sand a card to someone for no reason
Take an early morning walk.
Tell someone how much you appreciate him or her.
Look into the heart of a flower.
Look at old photos
Encourage a young person.
Follow an impulse
Visit someone close by.
Listen to the rain.
Acknowledge when you are wrong.
Volunteer time to something you care about.
Give yourself a present for under $1.
Eat breakfast with a friend.
Let someone do you a favor.
Reread a favorite book.
Allow yourself to make a mistake.
Watch the sun set.
Allow yourself to make another mistake.
Drop a quarter where some one will find it.
Surprise a child.
Plant a seed.
Watch the sun rise.

A beautiful Ypsilanti Day don't you think?

The parking lot at Dixboro and the Huron River is almost ready to be paved.

2 Rock Bass.
6 Small Mouth Bass.
10 weeds.

River still low. Recent rains did nothing to change its level.

Latino Festival.

Could have got more sun. Not burned enough.

Two fisherman at Superior Dam. One on N. Side on cell phone. One at S. )bottom of dam). Fish pulled his pole in the water. Helped him get it back. Hobo, night-fishing tent still there.

Run up the hill by M.D's for beer.

Leforge Dam apartments full. Couples with cameras. No bites under Leforge rd. Usually the best.

Blocked in at Frog Island. FOund a way out.

Can't wait till next Sunday in Ypsilanti.

Dear Anonymous,

Sound like you had a fun day on the river. One day I hope to take a look at Superior Dam, as that site has so much history. The dam there once broke, and sent hhigh water rushing through the city. I think something of the old paper mill that was there many years ago are still to be found. Am I right?

I found this link and thought you might enjoy it:
Samual Pepy's diary. The author promises to post one entry from the actual diary each day. The project is estimated to take 10 years.

The people I talk to at Superior Dam say they get there by parking at the rehab center (North of easterns football stadium) and walking a path from behind the place. Can't think of the name now. One used to be able to park at the end of First st. and walk the tracks to the dam. But developer guy saw that no more poor ypsi people can get that way anymore to fish.

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for the information. I must give the place a try. I want to stop by there soon, and see if I can find that path.
